胡瑛（1889-1961），中華民國時代（1912-1949）後期雲南的二把手，卓越的（可能是雲南最好的）軍事指揮官，滇國的錯失歷史時機的失敗的國父。他在護法戰爭、護國戰爭時當先鋒，重挫了北洋政府對雲南的中央集權。他曾率領4個衛兵前往敵對的北洋軍馮玉祥部談判，達成協議，換得緩和與安民。他在軍閥爭雄中力克黔、蜀的入侵。種種事蹟，為滇國的獨立打下了軍事基礎。他在中日全面戰爭中已經退休，但曾組織民團抵抗可能入侵的日本軍。在國共內戰中，他表現為和平主義者，拒絕了蔣介石的抵抗共匪的計劃，而是決定斡旋國共談判，引導共匪和平征服雲南，摧毀了襁褓中的滇國。他拒絕了蔣介石派來接他前往台灣的專機，為他的後代們留下了無盡的苦難。

HU Ying (1889-1961): The 2nd in command of Dianland/Yunnan in the late Republic of China (1912-1949), perhaps the best military commander of Yunnan, a lost founding father of Dianland who missed the historical opportunity. Leading Dianland's vanguard in the National Protection War (1915-16) and Constitutional Protection War (1917-1922), he crushed the centralization effort of Beiyang Government over Dianland. He once led 4 guards into the hostile camp of General FENG Yuxiang of Beiyang Army, and reached an agreement of détente and civilian protection. During the Warlord Era, he defeated the invasion of Sichuan and Guangxi. Achievements as such, laid down the military foundation of the independence of Dianland. He was retired during 2nd Sino-Japanese War, yet he organized a militia to face against the potential Japanese invasion. During Chinese Civil War, he presented himself as a pacifist, and rejected the anti-communist war plan of Chang Kai-shek. Instead, he decided to mediate KMT-CCP negotiation, and enabled communist peaceful conquest of Yunnan, destroying the independent state of Dianland in its infancy. He rejected the plane sent by Chang Kai-shek for his family to flee to Taiwan, laying down endless miseries for his future generations.
His leadership laid down the military foundation of the independent state of Dianland against evil China. His virtues, vices, and martyrdom in the hand of communist Chinese are remembered by every citizen of Dianland and every subject of Duchy of Chen.
